I like to kid that I took up photography so that I would never again have to be
on the “wrong” side of the lens. Truth be told, when I got my first real 35 MM camera
(a Chinon CP7m which I still have) I discovered that making images held an almost
mystical sense of power. Looking through the eye piece of a camera has a unique
way of helping you to see the world. It sharpens your visual senses and forces you
to really look at the everyday in a different way.
When I was a teenager I dreamed of becoming a professional photographer. In 1995
I graduated from James Madison University with a BS in Art with a concentration
in Photography. Unfortunately, long before the day I received my diploma, I had
come to the terrible realization that making a living at photography was probably
not my calling in life. After graduation I ended up falling into the Information
Technology world and that is where I have been ever since. I still dream of some
day making a living at photography though…
Currently I shoot most of my images with the Canon Digital Rebel (otherwise known
as the 300D). I am on my second Digital Rebel body. The first, a silver model, was
flooded in July 2006 after an accident with the lens port o-ring on my Ikelite housing.
The second, a black model, is a refurbished body that I bought on eBay to replace
the first body.
I am currently in the process of redesigning my online portfolio of images so check
back soon if you want to see a sample of my work.
